G. K. Chesterton

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874-1936), English author and religious philosopher.

Chesterton is best known as a mystery writer for five volumes of short stories starring Father Brown, a small and unassuming Roman Catholic priest, who uses down-to-earth wisdom and an inspired knowledge of human nature to solve criminal problems. Chesterton also wrote a full-length mystery novel, and there are six other volumes of mystery stories or novellas without Father Brown, as well as a handful of other stories collected recently.
