Plot summary and comments: A collection of 16 short stories, all but two involving Fen, and most with the addition of Detective-Inspector Humbleby, of Scotland Yard. They were intended as fair-play mysteries rather than atmospheric writing, and so are fairly brief and deal almost entirely with the puzzle aspect of detection.
