Computing

Working with computers is an essential and extensive part of our job. Simulations can help us aim our sights and test our theories. Most of the time we rely on scientific programs and the cluster to calculate problems that require a great deal of processing power. Such simulation models include the propagation of electron beams through a chicane, electro-magnetic modes in cavities of novel design, and interactions between charged particles. Though there are many simulation engines available to the public, our work sometimes requires implementing our own homebrewed applications and simulation codes.
